Heico Companies, a steel fastener factory in Quebec, laid off approximately 140 employees, mainly in Quebec. The layoffs followed a significant loss of orders due to U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel, with the factory losing about a third of its orders in less than a week.

The Gaelic College laid off its director of education and vice-president at the Mabou campus last month. The college also announced it will not offer any classes in 2026 at the Beinn Mhàbu campus due to funding cuts and low enrolment.
