In 2025, 50,309 workers across 113 Canadian companies were laid off. The hardest-hit industries were Manufacturing (17,486 workers), Finance & Insurance (8,736) and Government (7,370). By province, Ontario led with 21,100 layoffs, followed by Quebec (6,470) and British Columbia (1,551). Stellantis was the single largest affected employer with 9,300 job cuts. Dec 2025 saw the highest single-month count, with 5,847 layoffs recorded.
